      Fire Temple

Fire Temple is located in Fewkes Canyon and is believed to be a great ceremonial Kiva, or rectangular shape. The walls of the alcove in which it is situated have been painted red and white, and other ceremonial objects, such as a masonry fire box and oblong masonary vaults were found at the site. Rooms were built at either end of the Kiva, with the room on the left containing the alter. It is believed that ceremonies held here would have been attended by cliff dwellers from all over the Mesa Verde region.
