Balcony House
Balcony House is located in the Chapin Mesa. Access to Balcony House was very trecherous. After climbing a toe and hand rail, visitors would then slide along a small, narrow ledge, then pass along two tunnels behind a boulder that restricts access to the dwelling. It was a two storey dwelling with 45 rooms and 2 kivas (disproportionate) and housed approximately 100 people.
Balcony house is divided into two distinct parts by a dividing wall. This could be due to the organisation of the community into Summer and Winter people. However, there are openings in the walls, so some form of communication between the two halves existed.
